H.L.De Mel & Company (Pvt) Ltd. was established in 1870 by Mr. Jacob De Mel in order to manage his plantations, properties and various other operations. From the time of its inception, the company has been geared towards the notion of public service. Today, the fourth and fifth generation of De Mel’s are associated with the firm. The company manages the family owned plantations of 750 acres of mainly coconut. The company plantations also grows other crops such as paddy, plantains, mangoes, cashews, Cinnamon and pepper
